Supervision and Support for Educators

The absence, irregularity or quality of supervision is repeatedly highlighted in child safeguarding practice reviews. Staff may be found working in isolation and may feel overwhelmed due to the responsibility of their position as DSL or indeed any educator. It is essential that staff are properly supported with their work, even when the demands on staff time are many and resources are finite. Supervision offers emotional support to educators and helps develop knowledge, skills and values. A form of self-care, it is a regular, accountable partnering process. This partnership helps staff explore the complicated feelings that may arise and offers clarity and new perspectives on how to deal with challenging situations. At its core, safeguarding supervision is about improving the experiences of staff so they are better able to support the young people they are responsible for.

How my experience can support you

With over 20 years of working in education from primary years through to postgraduate studies, I have seen all the developmental stages of young people. Through my roles as a teacher, guidance counselor, overseas trip leader, Head of Department, and member of Middle Management, I have worked in partnership with Faculty, Parents, and Social Workers. My students came from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds with equally diverse academic abilities and interests. I have a strong understanding of many aspects of school operations and an appreciation of the demanding environment in which you work.

In addition to my experience in schools, as a qualified Counselor and a Certified Professional Coach, I follow the International Coaching Federation Code of Ethics. I provide a non-judgemental space for you as the client to lead the agenda of each meeting. I am independent of all the organisations you work with. You are free to bring your concerns to the meetings so as your thinking partner, we can work to find solutions to challenges and support to you.

I am currently working to support educators over 2 large UK Trusts - covering over 40 schools.

1 Hour - One -to-one sessions are conducted via Google Meet. Cost is £60 per session and sessions are invoiced to the Trust at the end of each full term.
